Strengthen Retail Trade and Service Sector

Grocery stores and the local barbecue joint are proof that retail and service trade keep money in town and create jobs.  this program helps communities make the most of retail opportunities.

This program will help community leaders:

  • Compare the retail and service sectors of your community with similar size communities in Arkansas.
  • Estimate the money and jobs leaking from your community.
  • Conduct a survey of local residents to determine where they shop and why.
  • Identify opportunities for expanding the retail and service sectors.
  • Develop programs to encourage people to shop locally.

For more information on strengthening your retail and service businesses, please contact your local county Extension agent or contact Dr. Wayne Miller, Extension Economist - Community Development (501) 671-2072.
